James William (Bill) Moore      1947

James William Moore was born November 11, 1928 in Bardstown, Ky. to parents Harold and Mary B. Moore.

He graduated grade school from Bethlehem Academy in 1943, high school from St. Joe Prep in 1947, and college from the University of Notre Dame in 1952.

While at St. Joe Prep, Bill played varsity sports in baseball 3 years, football 2 years, and basketball 2 years. He was voted best Bardstown athlete by Bardstown Quarterback Club in 1947, and was selected All Conference in baseball, football, and basketball in 1947 at St. Joe Prep.

While working towards his Bachelor of Arts degree at Notre Dame, he played freshman baseball in 1948, and varsity baseball in 1949 and 1950.

Bill earned insurance designations of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) in 1969, and earned insurance designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) in 1976.

He employed 12 years with Kentucky Blue Cross Clue Shield in sales and public relations. In 1965 he joined Independent Insurance Agency in Bowling Green, Ky. as part owner. Bill was also employed part time at Western Kentucky University as instructor in insurance during the 1970's. In 1978 he purchased the remaining ownership of the insurance agency and operated it for 8 years before selling the agency to members of his family. Bill Semi-retired in 1986, and fully retired in 1992.
