After the exact time to inseminate your mare has been determined by your veterinarian and we have been notified, we can have the semen collected and on its way in a very short time by Federal Express. For best results the semen should be used no later than 48 hours from the time it is collected. The time is all important so the quicker the semen is inseminated, the better. We will need to know if the shipment should be made to you or directly to your vet.

    The stud fee of the selected stallion plus the additional cost of processing and shipping semen ($100.00) should be paid at least 30 days before mare is to be bred. It will be your responsibility to return the shipping container by prepaid mail within five days.

    If for any reason your vet decides that the shipment should be made on a weekend, overnight express service can not be used and we would have to take it to Louisville airport and ship by special Air Mail and you would need to pick it up at your nearest airport and rush it to your veterinarian. There would be an extra cost of $75.00 for this weekend shipment. Your vet should work toward trying to avoid weekend shipment.

    We have tried to keep the expense and complications of shipping semen at the lowest possible cost to you. Obviously it will be only a small fraction of the expense of transporting your mare to Kentucky. We will not ask you or your vet to sign the various contracts and statements that some breeders do.
