Youth: 

Outings are planned at least on a monthly basis for the youth and pre-teen/teen groups. 

The groups join together for times of fellowship at activities like swimming parties,

Planned Events:    

    Several groups meet monthly.

    Stitching Sisters gather the first Monday of each month to sew and stitch in fellowship.

                     →  Our ladies group, Marys and Marthas meet each third Saturday of the month at
9:30 a.m. for breakfast, event planning, and fellowship.

                       Opportunities for Fellowship include church lunches and day trips around the state. 

          In addition to these meetings our church family gathers to celebrate events like Ladies Appreciation Banquet; Father-Child/Family Night Out at the Ball Game; Independence Day / 4th of July; Spring Festival; Summer Festival; Fall Festival; Easter Egg Hunt; Cook-Outs; Pot Luck Dinners; Trunk & Treasure, and many more.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Adults:

In addition to Wednesday night classes, SSS weekly group meetings, and other fellowship times, our adults plan monthly lunches and trips.  They have lunched in local establishments, attended Derby Dinner Playhouse, enjoyed a 2-day retreat to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and are busy planning future trips.

Ministry Team:      

Dr. Tom Mobley is the Minister of Nelson Christian Church, after concluding a 14 ½ year ministry as President of Louisville Bible College.  He and his wife, Alice  moved to the Bardstown area in mid-August 2004.  A native of Harrodsburg, he has served congregations in Lawrenceburg, Erlanger, Louisville and for ten years in Scottsburg, IN.  He has also served as Interim Minister for numerous churches throughout central Kentucky and Southern Indiana.  Tom and Alice have two grown children.

Dr. Mobley holds a baccalaureate and did graduate studies at Cincinnati Bible College & Seminary.  He later received his Masters and Doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he also served as a graduate assistant.  In addition to LBC, he has also served on the faculty and administration of two other colleges: CBC & S and College of the Scriptures. 

 

Dr. Mobley has served for over 35 years as a police chaplain with various law enforcement agencies and was honored for his 21 years of service with JCPD, LPD, & LMPD in Louisville.  He continues to serve with the Louisville Division of the FBI.  He was one of the authors of the textbook, Chaplaincy in Law Enforcement, and holds Master level certification with the International Conference of Police Chaplains. 

Moral Side of the News
Dr. Mobley serves as a regular panelist on this weekly TV and radio program.  The panel of ministers also serve as the Ministerial Advisory Panel for the Crusade for Children.  For a list of program times and radio and television stations, click here.



Marc Mobley was ordained as a Minister by Okolona Christian Church in July 2003, and presently serves as the Youth Minister at Nelson Christian Church on a full time basis.  Prior to coming to NCC, Marc served as Youth Minister with the Highland Park Christian Church.  Marc and his wife Katie, have two young sons.

Marc was a member of OCC during his teen years.  There he was active in such things as Sound Technician, Usher, Jr. Hi Sponsor, Jr. Hi Basketball Coach, VBS Helper, Teen Choir, etc.  From his second semester as a college Freshman through his Senior year, he was the part time Youth Minister with the River Valley Christian Church.

After graduating from Fern Creek High School, Marc earned his B. S. degree from Cincinnati Christian University with a double major in Bible & Helping Professions.  His minor was in Marketing and was actually earned at Northern Kentucky University through a consortium program.  He also received an A.S.L. degree  from Louisville Bible College and attended McKendree College

Learning:  

Sunday School classes are available for all ages.  Classes begin at 9:40 a.m. and 10:20 a.m., with lessons
for ages 3-K;  grades 1-5, grades 6-12, and three adult classes.

  Wednesday night lessons are also available for all ages.  Classes begin at 6:30 p.m. and offer lessons for adults, teens, and children.

               SSS Groups - meet within the community on a weekly basis.  All of the groups study the same lesson in private homes of church members, allowing for a less structured opportunity to learn.

Kauai Mission Trip 2007
In May, Dr. and Mrs. Mobley traveled to assist the Kauai Christian Church for two weeks.  Elder Mike Bradford returned there for the month of September.

Jamaican Mission Trip 2006
NCC
