Chapeze House, built in 1787, is a beautiful Federalist mansion and one of the great historic places in Kentucky. Dr. Henri Chapeze came to America in 1777 as one of fourteen French army officers in the company of Marquis Lafayette, joining the Continental Army under the command of General George Washington. Dr. Chapeze came to Bardstown in 1787 built Chapeze House and practiced medicine until 1810.
Kentucky Colonel Michael and Margaret Sue Masters, the proprietors of Chapeze House, are famous Kentucky personalities well known for their Chapeze House Bourbon Tastings, their Southern Cooking and Catering and their Kentucky Bourbon Cooking School.
