About Our School

Foster Heights Elementary is one of six
elementary schools serving Nelson County. It is located in the heart of
Bardstown, Kentucky at 211 East Muir Avenue. We serve a unique student
population. Students come to Foster Heights from several small communities on
the outskirts of the city of Bardstown. The school has experienced a dramatic
growth in the past few years drawing from the many new subdivisions that
continue to develop in the district served by Foster Heights Elementary.
MEET OUR STAFF:
Our
staff of 75 members are hard at work each day ensuring that all students in our
school acquire the academic and life skills they need to be successful students
and citizens.
Our
teachers use the Core Content Standards and the Nelson County School District
Exiting Criteria in every subject area and at every grade level. The state's
accountability test, Commonwealth Accountability Testing System, is the official
testing instrument used to measure school and student performance in reading,
mathematics, science, social studies, Arts & Humanities, Practical Living
& Vocational Skills, and writing. As part of CATS, all fourth grade students
produce a Writing Portfolio.
